Observation

Upon arrival to the program this licensor and health specialist was standing in the hall closest to room 109 and observed a child come out of the room, into the hallway and went to her cubby. Shortly after another child came into the hallway and went to her cubby. The staff were not aware that we were in the hallway and the children were not being supervised by staff while allowed to go to their cubbies and grab items. While in Room 108 children were observed standing and jumping off of furniture and equipment and there was no redirection from staff until there was a suggestion from Department staff that they not allow the children to do this and misuse equipment. While in the room one child jumped, fell and appeared to hit is back against a shelving unit and the children were still allowed to play in this unsafe manner. Staff were in the area and children were observed sitting on the shelving units. Shortly after the child got hurt another child was observed with her foot in the homecenter area kitchen sink and jumping off the equipment.
